Working with approval from local health authorities and following guidance from the NYS Governor, we are taking all precautions to ensure that materials on our shelves and those that are returned to us are safe to be handled by members of the public. Returned items will not be handled for the recommended period of 7 days.

If you are feeling unwell or if any member of your household is sick or in isolation, please refrain from borrowing library materials. This will help us all feel more comfortable and confident with the safety of our collections. We look forward to serving you again when everyone in your household is healthy.

Wood Library is offering patrons curbside pickup as an option to pick up requested items at the library. Patrons park in the designated parking spots, call the provided library number, and reserved items will be delivered right to the trunk of their cars by a library staff member. The entire process is contactless, but staff and patrons will be expected to wear masks during the pickup.  Patrons must have already been notified by the library that their items are available to take advantage of curbside pickup.

Hours are:

Monday-Thursday – 10:00am-6:00pm

Friday – 10:00am-5:00pm

Saturday – 10:00am-2:00pm

You have two options for requesting material using curbside pickup.

1. Place a hold through the online catalog and you will be notified when your items are ready for pick-up.
2. Request items over the phone at 585-394-1381 if you know what you’d like but need assistance. We’ll ensure we understand your needs and can locate items for you.

We have set-up designated parking spaces in our parking lot. Upon arrival, please call 585-394-1381 x 303 and tell the library staff person your name and which numbered spot you are in. Have your trunk open, ready to receive your items. A staff person will deliver your items to your trunk. You will be responsible for opening and closing your trunk. We cannot exchange materials or process returns or fine payments curbside for the health and safety of patrons and staff. Please use the outside book drops to return materials.

Yes, please call the phone number posted on the outside door.  Patrons must wear a mask and stand a safe distance of 6 feet away.  A staff person will place your items outside.  

No  but please bring your ID to confirm your identity. We will check out your holds to you ahead of your arrival.

We are not charging fines at this time. If you have previous fines of more than $5 please call us at 585-394-1381 and we will work with you to find a solution.

Patrons will be limited to 7 checkouts at one time.

You may have more than 7 items checked out on your account.

Patrons can place up to 10 holds on their account.

*Renewals are allowed as specified unless the item is reserved for another person (“on hold”) in which case, it cannot be renewed.  Automatic renewals are still in effect.

Yes!  When a library staff person contacts you, please let us know if someone other than you will be picking up your materials.  Remember that the library cardholder to whom the items are checked out is responsible for the materials and will be charged for any loss or damage.

No problem! Our library staff are experts at selecting materials based on your preferences. Whether you are looking for picture books for the kids or engaging mysteries for yourself, we can help you find great content. Please call the library and speak to a librarian for assistance.

Yes! Our book drops are open 24/7.  We are taking precautions to ensure that our collections are safe to be handled by members of the public and our staff.  Please return Wood Library materials to Wood Library at this time.

Note: As a result of our current procedure of placing returned items under 7 day quarantine, it will take a few days for items to come off your library account. We appreciate your understanding and patience during this time.  No late fees will be charged.

During our period of closure, there are a few options to gain access to library materials.  New York State residents can apply for a New York Public Library card through the SimplyE app—and gain access to an array of digital resources, including e-books,audiobooks, databases, and more. You can also now apply for a library card online by clicking here. You will receive a physical library card in the mail to use to access downloadable ebooks and audiobooks and other online resources.  Visit the library with a photo ID and document with mailing address listed within six months of receiving your card, and you can then check out materials right from Wood Library too!

Public computers are available and our wifi is on!  Use our computers or bring your your own.  The wifi signal is stronger closer to Wilcox Lane.  Wifi hotspots are also available for checkout.
