Canandaigua, NY (July 18, 2018)—With funding from a Mary Clark Thompson Community Health grant, Wood Library now offers themed Wellness Kits that library patrons can borrow for up to 3 weeks at a time. Each kit features information and equipment to help people get started with a new fitness routine. The themes range from walking for fitness to Zumba, and from upper body strength training to yoga.
The kits were put together by Adult Services Librarian Kristy Bauman. “The idea is to inspire people to try new fitness options from the comfort of their homes and give them the tools they need to get started. There are many opportunities for people to take an exercise or fitness class in the community, but some people can’t afford the classes or fit them in their schedule. This initiative helps to eliminate those barriers.”
Each kit includes DVDs, equipment, and motivational materials to help people try a new fitness regime. Adults can borrow a wellness kit with a Wood Library card.
