As people with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias progress in their journey and the ability to use words is lost, families need new ways to connect. Join us to explore how communication takes place when someone has Alzheimer’s, learn to decode the verbal and behavioral messages delivered by someone with dementia, and identify strategies to help you connect and communicate at each stage of the disease.

Buying a new computer or tablet can be overwhelming. This class will guide you through the purchase process with the goal of determining which type of computer will best fit your needs and where to look for one. Learn the pros and cons of buying new vs. refurbished vs. used, as well as some tips on how to transfer data an old computer to a new one.

Pick up a teddy bear coloring sheet or download one from our Children’s webpage. Color it, cut it out, draw a face on it, and use paper or fabric to add pajamas - or even a mask! Fill out the Sleepover Permission Slip so we’ll know the bear's name and who it belongs to. Drop off your bear at the library by 5:00 PM when we close on Friday. Your bear will stay in the library all weekend!

Behavior is a powerful form of communication and is one of the primary ways for people with dementia to communicate their needs and feelings as the ability to use language is lost. However, some behaviors can present real challenges for caregivers to manage. Join us to learn to decode behavioral messages, identify common behavior triggers, and learn strategies to help intervene with some of the most common behavioral challenges of Alzheimer’s disease.
