UPDATE: Delivery of Library Materials Suspended

UPDATE 14Mar2020, 3:45PM–Delivery of materials from other libraries has been suspended until further notice.  Holds on materials will not be able to be placed at this time. We are deeply sorry for this inconvenience. If you have been notified that an existing hold is ready for you at Wood Library, you may come and get it UNLESS, of course, you are feeling sick.  If you need an extension for an existing hold, please call the library at 585-394-1381.

UPDATE 13Mar2020–Wood Library has canceled all programs, classes, and events, except for the AARP Tax Aide service, until April 6.   At this time, Wood Library remains open to the public, and all other library services are available.

For the latest information about Wood Library services and programs, please check the library website or call 585-394-1381 for information.

As mentioned above, at this time, the AARP Tax Preparation Program will continue. Aides and patrons will be placed in a large meeting room and at work stations to promote social distancing.  Please understand that if the library has to close, Wood Library will not be able to honor these appointments. Canceled appointments will not be refilled.

Also, Wood Library will not be able to host any outside group meetings until April 6. Please be in touch with group leaders for more information. Wood Library will not be scheduling any additional outside group meetings at this time.

Patrons are encouraged to use the Libby app to download free ebooks and listen to audio-recordings. Find the Libby app wherever you download other apps. Library staff members can also provide information about this service.

Please be advised that if you are experiencing flu-like symptoms and do not feel well, you should not be in the library which is visited by hundreds of people daily. If you are ill and unable to return library materials, please call for an extended due date.

Here are the steps Wood Library is taking to reduce the spread of illness in the library:

·         Wiping surfaces daily, including handrails, door handles, drinking fountains, desks, and computer equipment.

·         For now, children’s toys and Read to Me sets (books with stuffed animals) will not be available.

·         Coffee service will be suspended.

·         Materials will be sanitized upon return.

·         Employees are following good hygiene practices by frequently washing hands and staying home when ill.

·         We have also suspended book and purse donations until further notice.

For questions about COVID-19, NYS has a hotline. Call 1-888-364-3065.

Watch the library website and Facebook page for updates on program and event cancellations.
