National Voter Registration Day is September 28

No matter your background or political beliefs, for democracy to work for all of us, it must include us all.
Wood Library is once again a local partner of National Voter Registration Day which is a national initiative to help every eligible American to be registered and ready to cast a ballot. In 2020 Americans turned out to vote in record numbers despite unprecedented obstacles. Yet every year, millions of eligible voters are unable to cast a ballot because of a missed registration deadline, outdated registration information, or other problems with their voter registration. According to 2020 post-election U.S. Census data, as many as one in four eligible voters in the U.S. were not registered. Less than 60% of potential voters aged 18-24 are registered to vote, and registration rates in communities of color lag significantly behind the general electorate.
Check out our lobby display, make sure your registration is up to date, and encourage friends and family to be ready to cast a ballot.  The League of Women Voters will be on hand on Tuesday, September 28 in the library lobby to assist any eligible voter who needs to update a registration or register to vote.
