11 Jun Art Exhibit: “My Favorite Pictures” by Peter Blackwood
Wood Library will host an art exhibit by Peter Blackwood titled My Favorite Pictures. The exhibit in the Ewing Community Room on the 3rd floor will run from Sunday, June 9 through Sunday, July 14.
There will be an opening reception on Thursday, June 13 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM with refreshments.
Local nature and landscape photographer Peter Blackwood has exhibited all new work at the Wood Library annually from 2007 through 2015. He also has exhibited at our local Wegmans, the Pat Rini Rorher Gallery, formerly at All Things Art in Canandaigua, The Icon Salon, and Naked Dove Brewery as well as Twisted Rail. Peter is also part of the Ontario County Arts Council rotating exhibits group. In Rochester Peter has exhibited at Strong Memorial Hospital, Image City Gallery, the 570 Gallery at Valley Manor, and My Sister’s Gallery at the Episcopal Home.
Now he presents My Favorite Pictures, a collection of his work that the artist feels are some of his best images. “These pieces are not necessarily the most sought after, but are my favorites to look at and remember photographing.”
Ants, cats, loons, animal antics and close-ups, moony landscapes, sunsets and the Milky Way are just some of the subjects. Peter has a collection of nearly 500 different pictures that he has framed and presented since 2007, and this made it difficult to choose “favorites”. “There are many that I am leaving out that I would like to include in this exhibit.” Other work by the artist can be viewed on his website at blackwoodphoto.com. He will also have 3 books of his work available for viewing at the opening reception on Thursday, June 13 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
