It’s a “Groundbreaking Summer” at Wood Library, and the latest basket from the Friends of Wood Library features over $600 of summer fun and reading pleasure.  There’s a beautifully decorated Adirondack chair donated by Wood Library’s Director, Jenny Goodemote.  The Friends of Wood Library and Unique Toy Shop have stocked this basket with 10 books, an Amazon gift card, 2 movies, and lots of toys to complement pre-K to adult summer reading themes.  J. E. Miller Nurseries and Lowe’s offer ways to enhance your garden spaces.  When it’s too hot, you can enjoy a play at Bristol Valley Theater or “dig into summer” with gift cards and treats from The Inn on the Lake, Arbor Hill, Naples Valley Brand Products, Tom Wahl’s, Arby’s and the Friends. Please stop by Wood Library’s circulation desk to purchase your tickets for$1.00 each or six for $5.00 during library business hours.  You can also buy tickets at Friends’ Preview Night at the Wood Library Annual Book Sale from 6 to 9 pm on Friday, June 14.  The drawing is 2:30 pm on Sunday, June 30, 2013 at the Friends’ 2nd Annual Strawberry Social.  All proceeds from this basket benefit Wood Library’s summer reading programs.  For more information, contact the Friends of Wood Library at 585-394-1381 or like us on Facebook.

Wood Library Book Sale — Update June 4, 2013

Because of Wood Library’s construction, staff can no longer accept donations for the 6/15-22 sale at the library.  However, on Thursday, June 13, you can bring your donations directly to the Greater Canandaigua Civic Center (overhead door entrance off parking lot) between 10 am and 5 pm.  You can also bring donations to the Greater Canandaigua Civic Center 6/15-20 during the book sale hours.  For more details, click here:  Book Sale Hours. Wood Library does not accept these items: encyclopedias older than 10 years, condensed books, textbooks, magazines or any item which is moldy, musty, or in poor shape. Thank you for your donations!  If you would like to volunteer to help the Friends of Wood Library with this important fundraiser, please contact Janet Ojeda at 585-394-6644.

History of the Friends

The Friends of Wood Library started in the 1960s. It has had several “resurrections” over the years, but in 1999 an enthusiastic group began the new “Friends” with great success (and a lot of fun!). Please join us as we support Wood Library.
