Wood Library is teaming up with Literacy Volunteers of Ontario-Yates and the City of Canandaigua to establish a permanent STORY WALK in Canandaigua’s Baker Park. The Rotary and Kiwanis Clubs of Canandaigua and the Friends of Wood Library have committed funds to this project, but we still need $4,000.00 to meet our goal.
Make a donation on NOVEMBER 28 through ROCtheDay.org and help us fund the new STORY WALK at Baker Park. An anonymous donor will match all gifts made on November 28, up to $2,000.00!
What is a STORY WALK? It is an innovative way to encourage people to get out and walk while enjoying children’s books. Story boards are installed along a walking path. Our story walk will start at the playground in Baker Park. Each story board will feature pages from a book. Instead of turning the pages, you walk to the next story board. The storyboards are permanent fixtures, but the stories change often. People of all ages and reading abilities can enjoy this activity together.
