20 Feb Popular Couch to 5K Training Program Returns
Want to participate in Wood Library’s 5K (3.1 mile) race on July 14, 2018, but nervous about getting in shape and not sure how to start? Have you run a 5K but want to improve your finish time? We can help you overcome your nerves and meet your goals.
Wood Library’s Couch to 5K program will kick off on Thursday, May 3, and run for ten consecutive Thursdays through July 12. The group training program will be led by experienced 5K runner and certified race trainer Lindsay Pennise, with assistance from runner Carrie McKeegan.
Participants will meet on Thursday nights from 5:30-6:30PM. The kick-off meeting will take place at Wood Library. All other sessions will be held at Canandaigua’s Baker Park (Buffalo St) or at Evans Field (Fort Hill Ave). Participants must be at least 16 years old and be registered for the Wood Library’s 5K before May 1, 2018. Spaces are limited!
A $25 fee covers all training sessions and one entry for the library’s July 14 5K race. Registrations are not transferable. In addition to a personalized training program based on individual goals, experience, and physical ability, participants will receive 13 raffle tickets for the race day raffle (a $10 value).
